| Shanghai Film Archive (SFA), established in
December 1987, is located in the Shanghai Film Center. SFA’s major
concern is with the collation, preservation, and utilization of
archival materials, for Chinese and foreign films, scripts, and
photos, etc. SFA resources contribute to current film productions,
benefit educators, and promote cultural exchanges, during numerous
academic symposia and conferences.
It has archived thousands of copies of feature films, scientific
and educational films and cartoons produced by film studios in Shanghai
since 1949. Other film copies were purchased or traded. The library
also houses a great deal of written archival materials.
So far, SFA has hosted dozens of symposium, benefiting film and
television professionals, as well as professors, students and laymen
alike.
