the festival, and over 4000 guests from over 40 countries attend.
STVF comprises four important activities: 1) the Magnolia Awards
Competition; 2) International TV Market; 3) Radio and TV Equipment
Exhibition; and 4) Magnolia Forum. The Magnolia Awards, named after
Shanghai’s city flower, presents 15 prizes (such as Best TV Drama,
Best Documentary, etc.) from the 300 competing programs. The International
TV Market is one of the largest TV markets in China. Programs sold
or traded include: films, TV dramas, documentaries, children’s programs,

Annual Shanghai TV Festival in 2002, signed contracts were valued
at RMB 490 million (US$60 million). The Radio and TV Equipment Exhibition
attracts a large number of experts and visitors, as does the Magnolia
Forum, where a number of hot topics are debated and discussed.
