Media & Entertainment Performing Arts Center (SMEPAC) is a brand
new art-performing-related subsidiary established at the beginning
of 2005 by Shanghai Media & Entertainment Group. SMEPAC owns
ten troupes and five theaters including: Shanghai Dramatic Arts
Center, Shanghai Pingtan Troupe, Shanghai Song & Dance Ensemble,
Shanghai Huaiju Opera Troupe, Shanghai Puppet Troupe, Shanghai Farce
Troupe, Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe (involving Shanghai Circus World),
Shanghai Majestic Theatre, Shanghai Lyceum Theatre, Shanghai Wan
Ping Theatre, Shanghai Art Theatre, Shanghai Grand People Theatre.
Moreover, SMEPAC coordinates the administrative affairs of Shanghai
Oriental Dancing Troupe.
SMEPAC owns first-class performing arts agencies
including Shanghai Majestic Performance Management Co., Ltd and
Shanghai Circus World Performance Co., Ltd. SMEPAC has 1,415 employees
including 55 National Actors Class I, more than 150 elites in the
field of performing arts and a large numberof professional managers
experienced in theater operation, agency and marketing. Its annual
income has reached 60 million by producing over 20 new plays and
presenting approximately 6,000 performances every year. SMEPAC owns
more than 300 performances with copyrights including “Shang Yang”,
“Shining Red Star” etc.
SMEPAC plays an important role in Shanghai significant
performing art performing events including Shanghai Spring International
Music Festival, Shanghai Tourism Festival, and Shanghai International
Festival of Arts. Besides, SMEPAC’s troupes present road show nationwide
participating in all kinds of celebrations and competitions. Furthermore,
SMEPAC organizes events aboard offering more than 100 shows including
cultural-exchanging and commercial ones.
